Double page county map of Kent by Robert Morden possibly first edition, circa 1695, nicely hand coloured. Features Canterbury, Sandwich, Deal, Dover, Bromley, Rochester, Maidstone, Dartford, Gravesend and Ashford.

Condition: Later hand colouring , folding copy, good margins, bold imprint, reinforcing to folds, repaired splits to cartouche, some staining to left.

Biography:
Robert Morden fl. 1668 - 1703
He occupied premises in New Cheapside and Cornhill where he carried on business under the sign of The Atlas as map, bookseller and maker of instruments and globes. He produced paying cards, maps of various parts of the world and a series of county maps for an issue of Camden's Britannia; a new translation by Doctor Edmund Gibson in 1695. Gibson, only 26 at the time, later became Bishop of London.
