Copperplate line engraving from The Tapestry Hangings of the House of Lords Representing the Several Engagements of the English and Spanish Fleets in 1588. Drawn by C. Lempiere and engraved by John Pine.

This scarce map illustrates the initial engagements of the British Navy led by Francis Drake and the subsequent movement of the Spanish Armada along the English Channel and South Devon Coast. Also shown are the pursuing RN ship movements from Plymouth Sound, Salcombe and Dartmouth

Condition: Good image, later hand colouring, laid on paper. Printed from two copperplates, the battle is reproduced in blue ink and the decorative border depicting the participating Captains and Admirals are printed in black ink.
