England and Wales drawn and engraved by John Rapkin for John Tallis (The London Printing and Publishing Company) circa 1850. Vignettes drawn by N. Whittock and engraved by J. Rogers include, Grandstand on the Racecourse Doncaster, London, Oxford, Entrance to Portsmouth Harbour, Sunderland Bridge, Hunting scene and Newcastle upon Tyne.

Condition: Good paper and imprint, later hand colour and some original outline colouring, good margins, folding copy as published, some reinforcings to centre fold.

John Rapkin (fl. 1835-65)

A nineteenth century map maker and engraver, best known for his work on the Illustrated Atlas of the World 1849-53 for John Tallis and Co. noted for their beautifully decorative borders and later re-issued by the London Printing and Publishing Co. London and New York.
