Decorative and pictorial title cartouche, six different scales and the inscription:
'In this Map, or Rather Geographical Essay. Morea and the adjacent parts are delineated according to the Drawing of the German Engineer Velmer von Bottmersdorf in the Venetian Service, a Curious Manuscript obligingly communicated by some late Travellers, to whom also we owe a multitude of New and interesting Details in the several districts of Greece, Macedonia &c. as well as the Western and Southern Coasts of Anadoli.
For the Country round Athens or Ancient Attica: the Passes of the Themopyles and the Valley of Tempe, with the Surrounding Parts; and for the Isles of Zant & Negroponte. Use has been made of the Papers of Mr. Stuart.
The Ancient Names are Underlined as Sycione.'
Condition: Bold imprint, minor repair to top centre margin. Some discolouration to centrefold and other printer's creases. Original hand colouring.
