Biography:
18th century engraver and cartographer, engraved maps in the rococo style of Emanuel Bowen and Thomas Kitchin for the Universal Magazine. He produced sea and river charts as well as town and harbour plans as well as the Middlesex county map in the Large English Atlas.
He produced some crude copies of Moll's county maps, replacing the antiquities with the main cities, only Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Somerset, Surrey, Sussex and Wiltshire were published (by Overton and Hoole). Devon, Dorset and Sussex being the larger counties, were produced on separate sheets and glued together. The nine maps were re-issued by Sayer and Bennett circa 1775. Seale also engraved ward plans for Stowe's Survey of London.
His other atlases include:
Maps of the Continents c.1744-47.
Mr. Tindal's Continuation of Rapkin's History of England c.1745
Otherantique maps by R. W. Seale
