A minister born in 1565, he travelled widely throughout Scotland, surveying the countryside, he compiled a collection of manuscripts which, some 50 years after being draughted, and having been redrawn by Robert Gordon, found their way to Amsterdam. In 1654 they were engraved and published by Willem and Joan Blaeu with text by Sir John Scott. There are 46 maps of Scottish Counties or regions, the majority of which are attributed to Pont who died in 1610.
